get on the highway
for me, this is about getting onto the public domain. There was a written piece I authored sometime ago that carried the title "Upfront and backstage people" describing the personality tendencies of most people. You are extroverted and get to be seen and heard. They are folks that enjoy the limelights and get to face the flashlights, those are the upfront guys. One could go ahead to prescribe roles for them within families, workplaces, communities, other human groupings. The opposite goes for the backstage folks--voiceless and faceless. They are fitted for certain functions within their perimeter of existence, most suited to roles that require a subdued temperament. Not the least is their being there in our withdrawing moments when you could survive without the boisterous types.by now, those of my generation have moved from the "or" mind-lock to the possibilities that allow for this "and/or" that. Our time calls for backstage-upfront people. Sideline lifestyles are not so appreciated any more than promise not backed by performance that we often see in extroverts. Twenty first century living demands the speed of recklessness with the accuracy of being meticulous. The breed that could navigate that delicate terrain seize this moment. Its your time, your turn.
speed is key today. First to market, first to finish...first to discover, first to deliver. The race is on. That's bad news for the contemplatives. Folks that want to think it over, slow down the pace of change. A bias for inaction or any laissez faire disposition is set for drowning and a hurried phasing out.
this present mind-bend of doing business, building relationships and nations interacting with one another pictures a highway. Not just for the speed but width also. The unit-players--individuals--constantly keep up by ceaseless re-inventing and personal re-definition. Everythings shapes up, gets fitted and upgraded in the man to integrate and get with the run.
in this multipartite world, i say to myself: get on the highway!
